Manchester City thrash Arsenal by quad and close to top spot


Manchester City sealed the top of the 33rd round of the Premier League, beating hosts Arsenal (4-1), on Wednesday night in the match embraced by the Etihad Stadium.


City quartet Kevin De Bruyne (7- 54), John Stones (45) and Erling Haaland (90) scored, while Arsenal's only goal was Rob Holding (86).


With that result, Manchester City took their tally to 73 points in second place, while Arsenal's tally was frozen at 75 points at the top but with two games to spare.


City opened the scoring early in the seventh minute, after an incursion from deep from De Bruyne ended it with a ground shot from the boundary of the area, finding the net.

The game calmed down the next minutes until City reappeared in the 22nd minute, with a ground shot through Silva going easy in Ramsdale's hand.


The Gunners appeared attacking for the first time in the 24th minute, with Gabriel rising for a cross from a violation carried out by Xhaka, hitting a header that went into the vicinity of the post.


City missed a chance to add a second goal in the 28th minute, after Haaland received a through from De Bruyne to play Zinchenko and Holding Winfer Brammsdale, hitting a ground ball from inside the area, the Gunners' keeper shined in the tackle.


Ramsdale continued to shine against Haaland, with a powerful shot from the Norwegian from the left side of the box in the 32nd minute.


In the 35th minute, after Odegaard paved the ball on the boundary of the area, the Gunners rose offensively to strike Barty's ground ball just past the post.

The response came directly from Haaland, who went deep and manipulated Gabriel in the 36th minute, to shoot a ball from inside the area that passed to the post's vicinity.


Gundogan easily slotted into the left side of the area, paving the ball for an unmarked Haaland in the 41st minute, the Norwegian firing straight at Ramsdale's brilliance in tackling it.


City added the second goal in the second minute of stoppage time, rising from Stones for a cross from an offense carried out by De Bruyne, heading home, and the goal was initially ruled out for offside, before being counted back to the fleeing technique, ending the first half with City's (2-0) lead.


The Gunners started the second half strongly, with a shot from Xhaka from outside the area in the 47th minute, held by Ederson.


Haaland continued to miss chances to score, with a complete solo in front of Ramsdale in the 53rd minute, hitting a groundball from inside the area, which the guard shined to tackle.


City fired a mercy shot at Arsenal by adding a third goal in the 54th minute, after De Bruyne conceded a pass from Haaland inside the area, to fire home a ground ball.


After a period of calm, City searched to add a fourth goal in the 65th minute, with a shot from Gundogan from outside the box, but his ball went wide of the goal.


The Gunners got an offence on the boundary of the area in the 80th minute, which Saka executed with a straight shot that went over the bar.


The Gunners returned to try to reduce the deficit in the 83rd minute, with a powerful Nketiah shot from the left side of the box, passing to the perimeter of the post.


Arsenal narrowed the gap in the 86th minute, with Holding receiving a pass from Trossard inside the area, hitting a straight ball that found the net.


City added a fourth goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time, with Haaland receiving a pass from Foden inside the area, to shoot home a shot, ending the meeting with a City (4-1) victory.
