Real Madrid beat Celta Vigo and await Atletico's gift
Real Madrid scored an easy 2-0 victory against Celta Vigo on matchday 30 of LaLiga on Saturday evening at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Real Madrid's goals were scored by Marco Asensio and Eder Militão in the 42nd and 48th minutes.
With this victory, Real Madrid takes its tally to 65 points in the league table, 8 points behind leaders Barcelona, while Celta Vigo's balance is frozen at 36 points in twelfth place.
The Merengue will wait for a gift tomorrow from neighbors Atletico Madrid, to bring down leaders Barcelona.
At the start of the second half, Eder Militao added Real Madrid's second goal in the 48th minute, and from a corner from the left side by Marco Asensio, the Brazilian defender rose and headed to the far left of the goalkeeper.
Celta Vigo captain Iago Aspas received a cross inside the box, and shot with excessive power over Courtois' goal in the 55th minute.
Vinicius Jr. raced on the left and crossed to Benzema, who shot from one touch had it not been for the goalkeeper's brilliant save in the 61st minute.
Iago Aspas received a ball deep into the Real Madrid defence, singled out goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and tried to dribble him, but the Belgian shone and turned the ball into a corner in the 77th minute.
Real Madrid's dominance and possession continued in the final minutes, securing an easy and precious victory in the pursuit of arch-rivals and leaders Barcelona.
