Man City eliminates Bayern and hits a date with Real Madrid
Bayern Munich failed to compensate for its loss in the first leg at the hands of Manchester City, to draw the two teams (1-1), on Wednesday at the Allianz Arena, in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
Man City benefited from winning the first leg with a hat-trick without reply, to qualify for the Golden Square by winning the two games on aggregate (4-1), as they will face Real Madrid.
City advanced with a goal through Erling Haaland in the 57th minute, before Bayern equalized the result through a penalty kick carried out by Joshua Kimmich (s 83).
Bayern controlled the game from the start, and there were signs of danger in the first 10 minutes of Koeman's runs on the right flank, but his consecutive crosses were not met with a touch towards the net.
A quarter of an hour after the start of the meeting, Man City reached for the first time to the Bayern penalty area with a low cross from De Bruyne, but Jan Sommer prevented it from reaching Haaland.
Bayern almost took the lead with the first goal from a quick rebound that ended with a pass from Musiala to Sane, who rushed towards the box and shot a ball the moment Ederson came out of his goal, passed next to the post.
And almost Opamecano implicates Bayern in the play incomplete after less than 20 minutes after hindering Haaland solo goal Somir, as the referee calculated a violation in favor of the latter and months red card in the face of the French defender.
But Opamecano breathed a sigh of relief after the referee reversed the offence and sent off, as the assistant raised his flag for offside on the Norwegian striker.
Sane then took a free kick from the right side of the City penalty area, almost turning into the net.
Gundogan tried his luck with a shot from outside the Bayern penalty area, which hit Opamecano before being successfully saved by Somir, but the referee blew his whistle for a penalty after the ball touched the French defender's hand.
Haaland took the penalty, but surprised everyone by shooting the ball over the crossbar, to miss the chance to kill the game early for the visitors.
Koeman received a heel pass from Sane, to meet the ball with a powerful left shot, which goalkeeper Ederson saved brilliantly, to end the first half with a goalless draw.
City took advantage of Bayern's attacking rush at the start of the second half and Grealish launched a quick counter-attack before sending a silky pass to Haaland, who strangely missed it with a shot within the reach of Somier.
Koeman resorted to the individual solution by penetrating the visitors' penalty area with his skill before firing a ground shot, which Ederson was on the lookout.
The ball bounced back into a counter-attack that reached Haaland, who took advantage of Opamecano's faltering and easily overtook him before firing comfortably into the net, scoring the Citizens lead.
The goal frustrated the hosts, causing the tempo to slow down a bit before a ball reached Choupo-Moting inside the box, but he directed a very weak shot that settled in the hands of the City goalkeeper.
About a quarter of an hour before the end of normal time, the hosts got their goal by scoring against City for the first time in the match through substitute Matthijs Thiel, but the assistant flag indicated Koeman's presence before it in the offside, to cancel the goal.
In the final 10 minutes of the match, the referee awarded a penalty to the hosts after the use of VAR, as the ball touched Akanji's hand, and Kimmich successfully executed it, equalizing the score for the German team.
Alphonso Davies raced down the left flank, sending a low cross towards Till inside the area, which the latter set up for himself before firing a rocket shot over the visitors' goal.
