Rodrigo double brings back the King Cup to the arms of Real Madrid
The Brazilian Rodrygo led his Real Madrid side to a 2-0 victory during the Osasuna showdown on Saturday night, the final of the King's Cup, at the "La Cartoja" stadium.
Rodrigo Joyce scored in 2 and 70 minutes.
With this victory, Mernji claimed his 20th title in the Copa del Rey, which he has struggled to win since his last season (2013-2014).
The game began with early pressure from Real Madrid, resulting in Rodrigo Joyce's first goal in the 2nd minute, after a distinctive individual effort from Vinicius Junior on the left end, passing the ball towards compatriot Rodrigo inside the area and putting the ball into the net.
Osasuna's response came in the 7th minute, a corner by Moncayola inside the area towards Hernandez, who fired a weak header into Courtois' arms.
From Osasuna's direct free-kick, the ball reached Toro, who fired a header past Courtois' left post in the 15th minute.
Fede Valverde aimed a rocket ball at the border of the area, but it passed above goalkeeper Herrera's goal in the 21st minute.
Osasuna's goalkeeper, Herrera, deflected a ground shot from inside the box through France's Karim Benzema, denying him the addition of Mernji's second goal in the 25th minute.
Abdul Samad al-Zulzuli almost scored Osasuna's equaliser in the 26th minute, with a distinctive one-on-one effort and a fallen shot without a save from Carvajal.
Horizontal crossbar David Alaba was denied the addition of the second goal, with a direct free-kick in the 32nd minute.
The first half ended with Real Madrid advancing with an unanswered goal.
At the start of the second half, Lucas Toro succeeded in scoring Osasuna's equaliser in the 58th minute, with a groundshell strike on the boundary of the box, down the right of goalkeeper Courtois.
Karim Benzema sent a cross from the right end, towards Fede Valverde, who shot with great frivolity into the box in the 61st minute.

Rodrigo added Real Madrid's second goal in the 70th minute, starting with a strong correction from Fede Valverde on the borders of the area, slammed into Osasuna's defence in front of Rodrigo, who put it into the net.
David Alaba aimed a header that passed the top of the horizontal crossbar in the 78th minute.
Antonio Rudiger almost scored Mernji's third goal, with a powerful header reel from inside the area, passing over goalkeeper Herrera's goal in the 86th minute.
