Everyone's favourite luxury fast sedan is back, more powerful than ever.

The Mercedes AMG S63 E Performance uses a hybrid V8 engine capable of producing 791 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful cars from the brand ever, and the most powerful car in the history of the S-Class.

Attention to detail for perfect performance

The S-Class is always distinguished in attention to small details. In this case, Mercedes has equipped this smart and fast machine with the necessary equipment to ensure that performance and luxury standards are simultaneously met.

For example, the S 63 E Performance will be the first of its kind with active engine mounts, using bearings and a set of vibration sensors to soften or strengthen the engine's connection to the chassis based on the driving situation.

In addition, an aluminum stabilizer and bottom supports have been added to increase the rigidity of the structure.

Adjustable suspension with adaptive dampers is standard. However, the chassis dynamics of the model are unique to the torque vectoring system available through the electric motor.

Instead of traditional interference by controlling electrical stability, slippage in one wheel can be addressed by reducing torque from the electric motor to that one wheel.

Three different steering settings are also available, thanks to variable geometry steering ratios, and rear-wheel steering is standard with a steering angle of up to 2.5 degrees.

Electrically powered motor

Under the hood, the S 63 E Performance engine can be considered as a larger version of the engine found in the C 63 S E Performance released earlier this year.

At the front you'll find the 4.0-liter twin-turbo AMG V8, bringing up to 603 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque.

It connects to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission, and at the rear, what Mercedes calls an electric drive unit.

The unit consists of an electric motor where the rear axle sits normally, stuffed with an electronically controlled limited-slip differential.

The engine is also powered by a 13.1 kWh battery also mounted at the rear.

Together, the two power sources can propel the S 63 to 97 kilometers per hour in just 3.2 seconds, to a limited electronic top speed of 290 kilometers per hour.

Luxurious and sophisticated interior

Inside the new S 63 E Performance, passengers and drivers alike will find a familiar range of plush leather seats, personal infotainment screens, and AMG's driver's cockpit. Sound is provided by the Dolby Atmos system, with a 360-degree internal sound design.

Overall, the interior and exterior of the S 63 E Performance look modern while maintaining a level of simplicity and class that has always been characterized by a sleek and streamlined design.

Details of the pricing and delivery schedule have not been announced. The Mercedes S 63 starts at $168,695, but the development of a hybrid engine and the addition of two doors means this new version will likely start at a higher price than its predecessor.

As cars become more expensive across the board, the price for models like the S 63 E is hard to imagine for the average consumer, but driving technology and battery are an important thing in the modern automotive world..
