Messi is the best player in the 2022 World Cup
Argentine star Lionel Messi won the best player award in the World Cup in Qatar, on Sunday, after his strong contribution to his country's crowning of the World Cup title, for the third time in its history.
Argentina won the title, beating France (4-2) on penalties, after the end of the original and extra time in a draw (3-3).
Messi scored two goals in the final, in addition to 5 other goals throughout the tournament, to rank second in the scorers' ranking, and be crowned the best player in the World Cup.
The "flea" succeeded in visiting the net, in all the roles of the current edition of the World Cup.
Messi scored during the group stage against Saudi Arabia and Mexico, then scored in the final against Australia, and in the quarter-finals against the Netherlands, before scoring against Croatia in the semi-finals.
Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernández was named the best rookie at the 2022 World Cup.
Mbappe wins Qatar World Cup top scorer award
Frenchman Kylian Mbappé won the World Cup top scorer award (Qatar 2022), with 8 goals.
Mbappe scored 8 goals, against Australia, Denmark (two goals), Poland (two goals) and Argentina (3 goals).
Mbappe overtook Argentina's Lionel Messi, whose tally stopped at 7 goals in second place.
According to the network "Squaka" statistics, Mbappe became the second player in the history of the World Cup, to score in two consecutive World Cup finals, after Brazilian Fava in the 1958 and 1962 editions.
It was the first hat-trick in a World Cup final in a full 56 years.
No player scored a hat-trick in the final of the World Cup except England's Jeff Hirst, who scored a hat-trick in the 1966 final against Germany (4-2).
