Bayern beat Salzburg by seven on their way to the champions' quarter-finals

Bayern Munich booked their place in the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League, after they swept red bull Salzburg (7-1) in a match hosted by the Allianz Arena on Tuesday in the second leg of the round of 16.

The Bavarian team did not give their guest a chance from the beginning after Robert Lewandowski scored two consecutive goals from two penalty kicks, before adding the third himself in the 12th, 21st and 23rd minutes, while Sergei Janabri scored a goal and Thomas Müller double in minutes (31, 54 and 83).

Leroy Sane completed Bayern's seventh in the 85th minute, while the visitors' only goal came with the feet of Moric Kiargaard (D70).

Bayern qualified for the next round after winning the total of two games (8-2), to end the first leg with a draw (1-1).

Strong start

Bayern did not want to waste time at the start of the game, as they succeeded in threatening the goal of their guest with the chance of a goal after Lewandowski received a pass on the edge of the penalty area, before firing a creeping ground shot, saved brilliantly by goalkeeper Cohn.

The response came quickly from Salzburg after a quick counterattack that nearly yielded an early goal, but Koeman's intervention saved the situation at the last minute.

Sani tried to catch the visitors' net with a long-range shot, but his attempt failed after the ball went away from goal.

Lewandowski was hampered inside the area, giving the referee a penalty by the 11th minute, which the Polish striker himself had executed, scoring the home goal.

Hattrick Lewandowski

The guest team had a chance to equalise, after the ball reached Seewald inside the box, to set it up for himself before firing a powerful shot into his left hand, which Neuer turned into a corner with his fingertips.

Lewandowski was again hampered on the edge of the penalty area, initially awarded a free kick by the referee, before amending his decision to award him a second penalty, following his video technology, from which the Polish player scored the second goal.

About two minutes later, Lewandowski returned to sign his team's second and third goals, after taking advantage of the Salzburg goalkeeper's exit from his goal, as the ball bounced off the post, to meet it with a touch straight inside the empty goal.

Bavarian deluge

Salzburg did not stand in front of the Bavarian flood, so that bayern players succeeded in extracting a ball on the edge of the penalty area, turning into a counter-attack that Janabri ended with a shot near the goal, which the goalkeeper could not counter, to inhabit his net.

Pavard was close to putting his mark in the meeting, after meeting Janabri's cross with a header, but the ball passed next to the post, ending the first half with Bayern (4-0).

The home side needed only nine minutes to start the second half to boost their lead with a fifth goal after Sani passed the ball to Müller inside the box, turning the latter into his body and firing a powerful left-footed shot into the net.

Lewandowski tried to visit the net again after he was cleared for a free kick on the edge of the penalty area, but his shot was not accurate enough.

Salzburg launched a quick counterattack, which ended at the feet of Kiargaard, who fired a rocket shot into his left, and Neuer merely looked at it as it passed into the goal.

The final minutes saw a Bavarian recovery after Sani gave the ball to Moller near the goal, to meet the latter with a touch into the net, before Sani himself signed the seventh goal three minutes later from a powerful left-footed shot.
